Thackeray and the Naxalites

Naxalites create terror. Bal Thackeray’s Shiv Sena has been doing the same for years.

Now we have news that suspected Naxalite Arun Ferreira has revealed that the funding of Naxal activities in Mumbai was done by Bal Thackeray, the Shiv Sena, and the BJP student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

Since this revelation was made under the narco test, such evidence is not admitted in a court of law but it does help in investigations.

Understandably, the Sena is livid, as reported:

Its spokesperson Sanjay Raut said there was no question of the Sena supporting any group promoting terrorism. Questioning the legality of narcoanalysis tests he termed them as childish. "A drugged person can say anything why should we give it credence?"

What is this narco analysis test?

The individual is drugged to lower inhibitions and the subject’s imagination is numbed, therefore he cannot fib. The injected drug is referred to as the ‘truth serum’.

When they have to bear the brunt, the Sainiks call these tests childish.

Unfortunately for them, their leader is rather childish himself.

A June 20, 2006 report talks about how worried he was about Muslims increasing their numbers in the Lok Sabha and his heartfelt appeal for Hindus to “foil the attempt”.

Here is the account:

Addressing a party workers' meeting on the occasion of 40th anniversary of Shiv Sena in Mumbai on Monday, Thackeray said, "We will even take help of Naxalites" to thwart this.

The Sena chief said the government should hold talks with Naxals to resolve their grievances.

"If they can hold negotiations with Muslim terrorists, why can't they do the same with Naxals?" he said.

I wonder what dope he was on when he uttered those words.

Ferzana versey Ji
Hi, I am here again. The last time I posted a remark, it was on your post about the female puddenda. I found to it to be rather piquant....
Ferzana ji, I know you to be an unflinching journalist, known for some fiercely independent views. I respect you for that but even a journalist has to be careful about 'goonda' elements. Since you live probably in Mumbai, where Thakre wields overwhelming clout, I would not say it is a part of your job, but better eschew clowns like Thakre. Leave them unto themselves. Anyway, he is too old now. Let the rabid dog die his natural death.

Stop being cynical...learn to love at least one of them!

Welcome back...I see you like anything to do with 'p', so the 'paper tiger' has brought you here again...

Even when Thackeray was younger, and I was young, I had written an open letter asking him to meet me alone with his security guards...these people can only wield clout. During the floods a couple of years ago he too had to take a boat and check in at a five-star hotel.
