Pakistan's free and so are we?

"Happy Independence Day!" chirped a friend from Pakistan.

"Oh, yes, to you. Mine's tomorrow."

"Same thing."

"Indeed, when you will be truly free, I will be free too!"

I cannot resist posting this poem, again! Some of you who are new might like to read the comments from then ...

My Friend, My Enemy

My sky too has a crescent and stars
My leaves too have sprung from similar trees
When I ask you who you are
You look the other way.
You are not born of your own womb
Your lids opened to another world
Forget those eyes you tell me
And find your truth.
One day your truth and mine
Were the same.
Today, for a few acres of your land
You deny me.

Conscience, soul, body, hungers
I satiate with eyes shut
But I feel burdened by history
I am not what you sought
The ballads sung to me sprung
From a different soil
I cross imaginary continents
To become rootless
In unaccounted-for miles
I grab your shadow
A child of the night
You say I let darkness delude me.
You fool only yourself
By shutting morning’s door
In my face.
I peep through the hole in the wall
And quench the thirst of my vision.
Try as you might
Your sunlight
Can never break my prism.

The only point when nationalism will spring into our blood is when Pakistan is mentioned, at all other times we are quite comfortable spitting and urinating on the road, breaking the glass of the public transport bus during hartal, giving and accepting bribes and accepting it as a part of national policy, talking all abt unity in diversity and sulking when people-of-'green' are mentioned.....i think pakistan is a must for our battered nationalism to exist, and india is perhaps a reason for them too, happy independence day...happier dependence day...

True. But it is not nationalism then. Just wondering what if people did stuff in designated sulabh shauchalayas, would they become nationalists?

Thank you!

Pakistan and India would never be free from the chains of enemosity. They love to hate eachother.

Pakistan's freedom is a slap on the faces of Pakistanis.

One Gora nation got them freedom from their slavery and the other got them chained for the rest of their lives.

Pakistanis love to be Gora slaves.

True about love to hate, and I also understand the chains. But when did Indians become goras? Because of our huge market for Fair and Lovely?

Don't say this too loudly. Pakistanis think they are fairer than Indians!

By Goras means Brits. They got freedom from Brit.GORAS and happily enslaved themselves by American GORAS for the rest of their lives.

PS:- Indians and Pakistanis both are fair and lovely. The reason seems quite obvious. Their MASTERS were Goras and you know what can Masters do? and what could be the outcome?

Then what about Genghis Khan and the Mughals? You mean to see we are part Brit? Now I know why I like hot water bottles!
