Mr. Bhagwat wants 'education' in this language. I disagree in principle.

My post and comment are adequate. Too bad you don't get it.FVnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16761020.post-35873932242577588752012-02-25T23:40:05.857+05:302012-02-25T23:40:05.857+05:30"So, what language were the British promoting..."So, what language were the British promoting? How foreign is a language that is constitutional and, more important, just how many people know that language? Most people learn their local language, and education has to be broad-based."

May be then it is my poor English, even after reading twice I cant understand how exactly is this and discussion on military education similar to what I said ? 'Britishers did promote English', they were the ones who introduced English system in education and offices to produce manpower which can work for them in their own language. You highlight English as constitutional language.

"The concept of the ‘mother tongue’ is limiting, and inherited. Listening to lullabies in it is fine, but what beyond that? "

You labeled mother-tongue as limited and question what can be achieved with it beyond a certain level. If you were promoting mother-tongue, I would appreciate if you do not mix points.

RegardsYogeshhttp://quest4theoryofeverything.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16761020.post-86308786244197681032012-02-25T22:14:39.950+05:302012-02-25T22:14:39.950+05:30Since you have smelt "anti RSS" in this,...Since you have smelt "anti RSS" in this, and failed to see that I said precisely what you are saying about mother tongue and much of military education, and Mr Bhagwat's reference was off on ONE aspect, and he was not factual,I don't have anything more to say.

ThanksFVnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16761020.post-76274825186603027832012-02-25T13:31:11.716+05:302012-02-25T13:31:11.716+05:30The post contains strong smell of anti-RSS hatred ...The post contains strong smell of anti-RSS hatred where sentences were taken out of context and given colors to suit yourself.

1. His 1st point is about policies of government which have failed to take poor out of poverty and considering current situation, no government seems to have any solution to it. I guess over .25mn farmers didn't had to commit suicide before 1947, now this has nothing to do with British because they never gave a damn about it but does not denies the fact that successive governments have failed to do anything.
2. It is evident from his statement that he wants to promote mother tongue for education and is critical in use of english. People use mother tongue in daily life and other than those who are glued to english channels generally and go to posh schools, other students mode of learning is to translate mentally from english to regional language and vice versa. People "think" in their mother tongue and no country has progressed which taught its children's in foreign language.
3. Before Aug 14, 1947 there was no Pakistan and china was also British colony. Military education is mandatory for kids in some countries which have constant danger from neighbors. Now I am not supporting mandatory military education for everyone because it is just not feasible but there is no harm in promoting military as a career, people need to understand importance of military and not just vegitate like Indians generally do. "Military education would entail the power of procuring licensed weapons" How many army men carry grenades, machine guns and tanks in their homes ?

If these are main points of his speech then I see only 1 reference of British rule and he never said British rule was better than current, he was talking about 1 particular case. He may not be factually right about it but neither is whole article.

Regards
YogeshYogeshhttp://quest4theoryofeverything.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16761020.post-81937187721534617662012-02-23T14:04:46.421+05:302012-02-23T14:04:46.421+05:30I had no idea you;d get this excited about Raj Tha...I had no idea you;d get this excited about Raj Thackeray.
