“Isn't it the moment of most profound doubt that gives birth to new certainties? Perhaps hopelessness is the very soil that nourishes human hope; perhaps one could never find sense in life without first experiencing its absurdity...”

- Vaclav Havel

We are living in hopeless times and times of hopelessness. The two can be mutually-exclusive. What happens when a person thinks too much, feels too much and realises that at the end of the tunnel it is night?

Some of us have stood at the edge and heard the echoes of the winds and we have returned to the plains. Hoping. Hoping. Sometimes moping. The human dilemma is about a lot of that.

In this song the protagonist is going through just such thoughts and at a low ebb asks god to take him back because life holds no interest. I find it interesting that he does not go and finish himself – he asks the creator to ‘uncreate’ him, so to speak. I don’t know what the lyricist must have meant, but that is how I read it.

The last verse is so full of powerful angush:

bhanwar ka sar na chakaraye, na dil lehron ka doobein
yeh kashtee aap kar dee maine toofaan ke hawaale

Rough translation:

There is no whirlpool, nor have the waves drowned my heart
I have myself handed my boat to the storms

In my case, analysis leads to paralysis :)

"he asks the creator to ‘uncreate’ him, so to speak."

I do this often. I do it because the will to die is there but the balls to accomplish the task are not.

    I like the song :)

  2. Glad you liked this song despite lack of "balls":) Btw, all peepuls with balls should then be jumping off cliffs and doing soo-side. Literally speaking, all men are purrfect for the job at hand...

As for analysis leading to paralysis, tell me what do you do the morning after! How do you 'un-numb'?

  3. The balls were a metaphor for himat obviously :)

"Btw, all peepuls with balls should then be jumping off cliffs and doing soo-side."

Not if they dont WANT to! Important distinction to make.

You DONT un-numb. It's a pretty constant state. Sometimes it wears off or lessens a bit just long enough for you to make a fool of yourself. And then you just go back to wishing you were numb again :)

  4. Are you trying to say that those who analyse make fools of themselves? Is it not possible to do so in a numb state? And you can un-numb, if you WANT to. Important distinction to make :)

Re. men jumping off cliffs, what goes of just saying?

The balls were a metaphor for himat obviously :)

Thanks for clarifying. And here I was thinking that there is this cave and bats and no kirkit balls...

most do but not you my love :)

"Is it not possible to do so in a numb state?"

it is...but it's so much more devastating when you make a fool of yourself because you couldnt control yourself.

"And you can un-numb, if you WANT to"

yeah but i dont want to :)

  6. Thanks.

Being foolish occasionally is good. One must strive to make it better.

Okay. Today I am in a generous mood!
